![]() Here is a tutorial how you can convert a selection in Global Mapper to a geotiff for use in Cinema 4d, (they use DEM instead but just select Geotiff). ![]() But the download of the HR version took about 3 hours and has a size of 150mb. ![]() You can see that there is a big difference in the HR en LR version. Here is an example of what I am working on: You can use Geotiffs on an object called Relief. The height will automatically appear. With that software you can select an area and download it as a so called Geotiff and/or satellite view, or map view. But it has a really steep learning curve and the downloads are very slow. They use all the free resources that are available for heightmaps but also streetmaps. (Edit: ah I see you were already mentioning this tutorial)įurthermore for other countries (but also USA) I am fooling around with software that is called globalmapper. But specifically for the USA I found a great tutorial that can help you along. Mainly because there are so many different ways elevation data is represented and different sources to get it from. I must say it is more complicated then it looks at firsthand. I am busy with the same thing at the moment.
